About a million gamers were eagerly anticipating the Sega 32X. Once attached to the Genesis/Mega Drive, it made
it twice as powerful as the Super NES/Super Famicom. Unfortunately, there were many problems with the 32X. Sega failed to
meet shipping goals, and only half of the people who wanted a 32X ended up getting it before it was discontinued. Nearly
every game for the system was either mediocre or a rushed port. Many also complained about the cables needed to hook the system
up. The system was a huge disappointment for many, and caused Sega's reputation to decline. Sega never recovered from the
32X disaster, and Sega's reputation stayed bad up until 1998/1999, when the Sega Dreamcast came out, which finally convinced
people to forget about the 32X and like Sega again.
