Microsoft Xbox

Microsoft entered the market in 2001 with the original Xbox. Microsoft made many smart business decisions, escpecially for a newcomer in the industry, For example, they marketed the Xbox towards the older audience, made the Xbox's graphical capabilities extremely impressive, and heavily supported on-line play. But, Xbox only captured 16% of the market, and was extremely un-popular and hated in Japan. Microsoft also lost alot of money on the Xbox, and the Xbox 360, despite the fact that both systems sold well during their heyday, mostly because it cost a lot of money to make an Xbox or Xbox 360. Microsoft finally made a huge amount of money and had it's first profitable business quarter ever thanks to the launch of the hugely-anticipated Halo 3.
